Rose River Memorial
Bowers 2022

Bowers Museum, Santa Ana — The museum incorporated elements of Rose River Memorial into its public-engagement programming, underscoring the role of hand-crafted gestures in collective healing.
A significant moment of the year was the COVID Memorial Day Virtual Vigil on March 7 , in which Rose River Memorial participated as part of a nationwide day of reflection. The event unified communities across the country in honoring those lost through artistic ritual and shared intention.
Across all these sites and collaborations, 2022 marked a year of continued expansion for Rose River Memorial — broadening its visibility, deepening partnerships, and reaffirming its commitment to transforming public art into a living space for connection, compassion, and collective remembrance
The theme of water has been explored many times by Lutyens, particularly with his large-scale sculpture The Droplet which was exhibited at the Musée de la Monnaie in 2017 in Paris. The project explored the theme of water security in a historical context and the threats we face today through climate change. He gained the support of eight of the world’s top water scientists, whose words were integrated into the 45’ high sculpture.
