At the Stedelijk Rietveld, Marcos Lutyens, in collaboration with Viktorija Raibakova, presented a speculative and participatory exploration of dreaming, altered states of consciousness, and collective imagination. Drawing on hypnosis, synesthesia, neuroscience, and Indigenous knowledge systems, the project proposed dreaming as a method of learning, remembering, and healing beyond linear time and rational language. During the event, participants were guided through the Spaghetti Dreaming induction—a poetic, hypnotic exercise designed to weave individual memory, collective imagination, and sensory awareness into a shared field of experience.
Rooted in Lutyens’ long-term investigations into perception, the vagus nerve, memory, and non-ordinary states—and expanded through Raibakova’s parallel research into emotions, dreaming practices, and collective sensing—the event framed dreaming as a collective technology for re-imagining knowledge itself. The gathering unfolded as a lived experiment in “un-learning,” where intuition, bodily awareness, and poetic logic became tools for sensing the present while drifting across past and future. The project was further marked by Raibakova’s artist book produced in conjunction with the event, which traced its conceptual development through sun-burned pages, drawings, colour, and symbolic notation, serving as both archival object and dreaming instrument
